Aqualia and the SDGs Contribution to priority SDGs

Aqualia recognizes the role played by the private sector in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and demonstrates this in its daily commitment to promoting this culture within the company and among its stakeholders..

For this reason, in addition to promoting campaigns to raise awareness of the SDGs, it has identified and prioritized those to which the company contributes through its activities and corporate commitments.

And, through active listening, it understands the importance that stakeholders attach to Aqualia's contribution to the various SDGs and wants to respond to these expectations by providing the appropriate indicators..

As ODS 6 is Aqualia's main objective, the company focuses on the metrics for each of the six specific targets of this SDG. Each of these is linked to other SDGs. This allows for the creation of synergies that Aqualia aims to enhance by monitoring and developing these established metrics.

Aqualia, the first integrated water cycle operator to certify its contribution to the SDGs

The company, owned by the citizen services group FCC (51%) and the Australian ethical fund IFM Investors (49%), received recognition from AENOR in June 2021 for “incorporating sustainability into its principles and aligning its strategies with the SDGs most relevant to its activity.”

The award of the certificate is the result of Aqualia's intense work over many years in favor of sustainability, in its threefold financial, social, and environmental aspects, and confirms its objective of leading the way in responsible and efficient water management.

SDGs, a related system

At Aqualia, we want to spread the word about the 2030 Agenda so that it reaches all audiences and gains the necessary momentum for this ‘Decade of Action’. To achieve these goals, everyone must participate: governments, businesses, civil society, and citizens. Its strength comes from the universal nature of the agreement and the ambition of its 169 targets.

That is why Aqualia is presenting a video explaining the Sustainable Development Goals as you have never heard them before:
